Golghar is a historical granary located in Patna, the capital of Bihar, India. It was built in 1786 by Captain John Garstin, an engineer with the East India Company, following a terrible famine in 1770 that caused the deaths of millions. The British built Golghar as a storage facility for grain to prevent future famines.
Its architecture is unique, shaped like a massive beehive or dome, and made entirely of stone without any pillars inside. The structure is about 29 meters high and has a wall thickness of 3.6 meters, making it strong and durable.
